When Irene came to the United States from the Philippines, she found her fiance's house full of old items he had accumulated. She decided to donate to Goodwill, and that's when she learned about Goodwill's free Job Training and Education (JTE) programs.

Irene is a teacher at heart, so when the opportunity presented itself, she began volunteering at the Kitsap County Job Training and Education Center in Bremerton, where she helps English learners in Goodwill's English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses.

Irene gets great satisifaction from donating her time to Goodwill and encourages others to take an active part in supporting Goodwill's mission.

"Goodwill's mission of educating people, helping people be educated, that is what really attracts me in helping Goodwill," Irene said. "I am a teacher at heart, and I really love teaching."
