Goodwill a go-to spot for pride fashion

Each June our communities come together to celebrate individuality and the societal impact LGBTQ communities make. We call it Pride Month. It’s a great time to celebrate our LGBTQ family members, friends and co-workers and/or educate ourselves about the LGBTQ community, which adds to beautiful diversity of our society.

It’s no secret fabulous bright colors and eye-catching looks are symbols of Pride Month and pride celebration. There are so many fun ways to celebrate pride during June, and Goodwill is a great place to start putting together your look.

And what better place to visit than Seattle Goodwill’s Capitol Hill retail store location?

“We get donations from the community on Capitol Hill, which is traditionally a super LGBTQ area,” Capitol Hill Production Manager Ronson Peters said. “We’ll put the more flashy things out on display that grabs people’s attention, but even if you go through our T-shirts, you’ll find something that speaks to you.”

Our Goodwill stores, and Capitol Hill in particular, have a great selection of colorful pride wear to help you start or finish the look you are going for.

“You’ll be going through our product and just find something that may call to you,” Ronson said. “That’s sort of the fun thing about pride – it’s sort of a celebration of individuality. Everyone finds something that is sort of like, ‘Oh, this represents me and what I’m prideful about.’ It’s really cool, because you can find so many different things.”

Goodwill stores also have a selection of pride-themed new goods as well as those hidden treasures. Ronson said his Capitol Hill store still has a great selection of pride clothing and accessories, but he recommended against waiting until the end of the month to shop.

“Biggest thing is if people are coming in looking for pride stuff, they should ask someone who is working,” Ronson suggested. “We see a lot of it and always know where the good, fun things are – the things that are bright, colorful and cool. That would be my pro tip.”
