2019 Glitter Gala Resilient Women
It’s no secret – Goodwill’s students are resilient in the face of obstacles.
Join us for an elegant evening on November 2, as we raise funds for resilient women. Seattle Goodwill’s Glitter Gala is an opportunity to enjoy cocktail hour activities, dinner, a fashion show and after-party – all to benefit Goodwill’s free Job Training and Education programs. Last year, over 7,750 women walked through Goodwill’s doors to look for an opportunity to improve their lives, support their families and build better futures. With your support, Goodwill is further able to support incredible female students to reach their highest potential.
Here are some of the women that inspire us at Goodwill.
“There were several times where I thought I couldn’t finish school, I couldn’t find a home. We had a one bedroom apartment with my kids in the living room and me in the dining room. It was really crowded. We were looking for a bigger place, but I had my injury and I wasn’t working. Goodwill helped so much. They gave me a lot of resources to help me get through.” – Guadalupe
“Goodwill is 100 percent help. I speak English now. I write, too. Now, wow, I cannot believe my life. At work, I understand what (customers) are saying. Before I couldn’t understand, because they are talking so fast. Goodwill has a lot of benefits for people. Go to learn because Goodwill helps.” – Bernardina
“I’ve always had people look at my negative things but not my positive. Here, they look at my positive things instead of the negative. My confidence has gone higher. They’ve had my back here and said, ‘Yes, you can do it.’ My confidence was at 50 and now it is 95 percent.” – Sukhi
“When I moved out here three years ago, my daughter had just bought a house. I had foreclosed on my home in North Carolina, and my mother had passed away. My daughter built a little bedroom in the garage, and that’s where I’ve been the last three years. I had thought about driving (professionally) all my life, I just never had the money to go to school, because it’s rather expensive. This has been a life-changer, and it would have never happened without Goodwill.” – Mitzi
