News Release: Goodwill to Reopen stores in Kitsap County
Seattle Goodwill Industries will reopen most of its operations in Kitsap County June 4 – 11. Stores will open first on June 4 for shopping and will start collecting donations one week later on June 11. Plans to reopen our Kitsap County Job Training & Education Center located in our Bremerton store are also underway.
Locations include:
Bremerton |
Port Orchard |
Silverdale |
Store Hour starting June 4 are 10 am – 5 pm. |
Reopening nonprofit thrift stores will allow the organization to generate revenue to serve its mission to provide free job training, education and basic services that our neighbors critically need.
“Our commitment to support our community through our mission is unwavering,” said Daryl Campbell, Seattle Goodwill President and CEO. “Reopening our doors to shoppers allows us to offer new life for used goods—and helps us create new life opportunities too—for individuals, families and ultimately the communities we serve.”
All operations are implementing many new measures to maximize the safety of employees, customers and students. Stores will limit the number of customers shopping at any one time to allow for proper physical distancing, in compliance with Washington State guidelines. Every Goodwill employee will be wearing PPE, and shopping carts and baskets will be sanitized regularly. Store layouts have been modified so that physical distance can be maintained and provide a comfortable shopping experience.
The stores will collect donations through a no-contact process. Donors are asked to unload presorted items from their vehicles and place them directly into labeled bins. Furniture and other large items will not be accepted at this time. Donated items are disinfected with an environmentally friendly, CDC approved anti-viral cleaning agent and put into quarantine for three days before they are sorted, priced and readied for sale.
