Our mission is evergreen
We’ve got some big news! As a way to be more inclusive of all communities we serve, we’ll be changing our name to Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington (or Evergreen Goodwill for short). Rest assured, we’re still the same organization committed to helping others, and now we have a name that better suits us!
Why we’re making the change
Our very first location opened in Seattle in 1923. Since then, we’ve grown a lot! Today, we have 24 stores, five Job Training Centers, and over 30 donation sites - all serving thousands of people in five different counties throughout Northwest Washington. And as many of our supporters have voiced, the name “Seattle Goodwill” can sometimes seem a little confusing. Since we have grown so much, we need a name that better represents who we are and the people we serve.
Changing our name to Evergreen Goodwill allows us to be more inclusive of the communities we serve while reflecting the characteristics of our region and our commitment to keeping our mission relevant and vibrant in our community.
As a loyal supporter of Seattle Goodwill, you may not notice a ton of difference. We’re the same folks doing the same important work to help our neighbors access opportunities – all with your essential help!
Our mission endures
As we have for almost 100 years, our shared mission to provide free job training, education, and basic services that help people remove barriers and create better lives for themselves continues. We’re still here to provide classes and training so students can gain the necessary skills and access the essential support needed to earn jobs today and into the future.
Whatever your connection to Goodwill, we appreciate your commitment to this mission. When you shop, donate, volunteer, learn, or partner with us, you are making a real difference. Thank you!
