2021 Annual Report
We’re excited to share Evergreen Goodwill’s Annual Report reflecting our community-wide impact across the Northwest Washington region during the 2021 fiscal year.
A MESSAGE FROM DARYL AND AMELIA
Dear Goodwill Community,
Purpose is at the core of what we do every day, even in the most challenging times. Navigating through another tough year of the pandemic, it is astonishing to see the hard work and purpose-driven dedication of everyone at Evergreen Goodwill.
Together we found new ways to sustain our purpose and support our programs. Goodwill has never been more prepared to meet the needs of the moment and the communities we serve.
It’s because of the determination of our students, the commitment, ingenuity and expertise of our staff, and the generosity of our community that we are able to provide unparalleled and holistic training and support services for our students. Despite many obstacles and challenges, we served 2,705 students last year through newly developed online, in-person and hybrid programming at our five regional Job Training and Education Centers.
The community donated items and shopped in our stores using social distancing and other safety practices. Employees felt more confident coming to work with health screenings given before every shift. Community members took steps toward their own health at COVID-19 vaccine clinics at some of our locations.
Through all the changes we stayed focused on our purpose.
This annual report shares individual stories of success made possible by our programs. While the pandemic limited the number of people we served last year, each of those individuals now has renewed purpose. The year in review also reflects the important role of our community members and partners, and we thank you all for your support.
A lot of change has upended our way of life over the past two years. Throughout the external challenges, we’ve also spent time focusing on our organization and what we represent. As we round out nearly a century of existence in Northwest Washington, we’ve turned a new leaf and are now known as Evergreen Goodwill.
As a way to embrace all communities we serve, we became Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington (or Evergreen Goodwill for short). Since our first location opened in Seattle in 1923, we’ve grown to 24 stores, five Job Training Centers and over 30 donation sites. Understandably, the name “Seattle Goodwill” was a little confusing for such a large service area.
The name Evergreen Goodwill is more inclusive of the communities we serve, while keeping our mission relevant and vibrant in our community.
We are looking toward a brighter future for all. It is with renewed hope and passion that we press forward in helping people overcome barriers and gain stability to persist in their education and career goals.
Thank you for being our partner in purpose.
STUDENT STORY: YULIA

When Yulia moved to the United States from Russia, she says she never established any professional goals for herself. Thanks to Evergreen Goodwill, Yulia was able to further her education and now dreams of one day attending a university and becoming a licensed CPA. To read her full story, click here.
