Empowering Future Leaders: Bank of America Student Leaders Program at Evergreen Goodwill
POSTED October 18, 2024 IN: Community

As part of the 2024 Bank of America Student Leaders program, Amy Tran and Imelda Ramirez joined Evergreen Goodwill as summer interns in our Mission department. Both Amy and Imelda were fully integrated into their respective teams, where they contributed to analyzing program data and building connections with local nonprofit organizations. Their internships demonstrated the power of collaboration in creating positive community impact.
Amy Tran’s Internship: Building Nonprofit Connections at Evergreen Goodwill
Amy Tran worked with the Community Partnerships team at Evergreen Goodwill, where she played a vital role in strengthening connections with other nonprofits and highlighting the impact of Goodwill’s mission-driven work. Collaborating closely with her team, Amy helped create reports that demonstrated how Goodwill’s resources were deployed and the tangible impact they made in people’s lives.
This hands-on experience broadened Amy’s understanding of social enterprises, showing her how nonprofits can drive revenue while fostering social change. Her background in leadership, particularly through her involvement in Key Club—where she developed strategies, raised funds, and partnered with schools, homelessness shelters, and food banks—was a natural stepping stone to her role at Goodwill.
Reflecting on her internship, Amy said, “Working to support Goodwill’s Mission opened my mind to how organizations can make money to help change lives.” This fall, Amy will begin her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on Economics and Social Impact.
Imelda Ramirez’s Data-Driven Internship at Evergreen Goodwill
Imelda Ramirez supported Evergreen Goodwill’s Mission Data team, where she analyzed Washington state demographic data and compared it to enrollment numbers from Goodwill’s Job Training and Education programs. Her work helped the organization better understand and respond to the needs of its students, making data a key driver for program development.
Imelda’s passion for service began with her own nonprofit, Love and Sweet Bakery, which has 13 chapters that fundraise and provide home-cooked meals to shelters and charities. Her internship at Goodwill not only extended her commitment to serving others but also allowed her to explore the intersection of business and public service.
“I loved working at Evergreen Goodwill,” Imelda shared. “I grew professionally and personally as I experienced firsthand how business strategies can be applied to help communities in need.”
How Bank of America Student Leaders Contribute to Goodwill’s Mission
Both Amy and Imelda’s internships at Evergreen Goodwill through the Bank of America Student Leaders program reflect how young leaders can have a direct, positive impact on their communities. Through their work, they gained practical experience in social enterprise and nonprofit management, reinforcing their commitment to making a difference.
This partnership is a perfect example of how Evergreen Goodwill and Bank of America work together to empower the next generation of social impact leaders.
