Workshops
Evergreen Goodwill provides workshops on-site and at local organizations focused on finding employment, succeeding and advancing in employment, getting into college, and improving financial literacy.
Here is a list of the current Goodwill Workshop offerings:
Finding Employment
Career Exploration for Youth: This workshop is designed to promote career awareness among youth. It provides basic information about careers and education, types of industries and sectors, important skills, and the importance of a career pathway.
Dressing for an Interview: This workshop is designed to provide tips and strategies for dressing for an interview, and includes the opportunity to purchase an interview outfit at a Goodwill Store.
Essentials of Online Job Search: This workshop is designed to cover the basics of online job search. It provides strategies and information to help locate jobs online. Students will use the computers to get hands on practice using these skills.
Finding the Right Job for You: This workshop is designed to help students explore jobs that are a good fit for their skills and interests as well as jobs that meet labor market needs. It provides strategies and information to determine interests and skills. Students will also learn about online resources for career exploration.
How to Apply for a Job with a Conviction History: This workshop is designed to help individuals with a criminal background successfully apply for employment. It provides information about the basic materials and information needed to apply for a job, preparation tips, and strategies to answer criminal background questions.
Interviewing Essentials: This workshop is designed to help applicants prepare for a job interview. It provides preparation tips, strategies to answer interview questions, and an opportunity to practice answering typical interview questions.
Interviewing Essentials (ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages): This workshop is designed to help applicants with Intermediate level English skills prepare for a job interview. It provides preparation tips, strategies to answer interview questions, and an opportunity to practice answering typical interview questions.
Interviewing with a Conviction History: This workshop is designed to help applicants prepare to describe their conviction history in an interview. It provides preparation tips, strategies to answer criminal background questions, and an opportunity to practice delivering their criminal background speech.
Online Pre-Hire Assessments: This workshop is designed to help applicants prepare for online pre-hire assessments. It provides the employer rationale for the assessments, strategies to answer the questions, and an opportunity to practice answering typical assessment questions.
Resume Essentials: This workshop is designed to prepare individuals to write a resume. It provides preparation tips, strategies for resume writing, and an opportunity to start a resume or improve an existing resume.
Selling Yourself to an Employer (ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages): This workshop is designed to help applicants with Intermediate level English skills prepare a 60 Second Commercial. It provides preparation tips, strategies to create a 60 second commercial, and an opportunity to practice.
Social Etiquette for Youth: This workshop is designed to help youth improve their social etiquette. It provides the strategies on how to show respect to adults, make a good first impression, strengthen networking skills, and improve online awareness.
Welcome to the American Workplace (ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages): This workshop is designed to help applicants with Intermediate level English skills prepare for a job in the American Workplace. It provides information related to typical American workplace policies, regulations, and hiring processes as well as strategies to improve adaptability to American workplace culture.
Succeeding and Advancing in Employment
Starting Strong and Moving Up: This workshop is designed to help people be more successful when starting a new job. It covers the process of onboarding, the attitudes that are important during the introductory period, and tips on moving up in the workplace.
Succeeding on the Job: This workshop is designed to help people be more successful working in teams on the job. It provides opportunities for students to consider the importance of partnership and communication on the job.
Succeeding in College
Going to College: This workshop is designed to provide information about the benefits of going to college and guidance about the necessary steps to get into community college.
Paying for College: This workshop is designed to cover the basics of paying for college. It provides information about the different types of funding available and the processes for accessing these funding sources.
Picking a College Training Program: This workshop is designed to provide strategies for choosing the right college training program. Participants will assess their interests, the needs of the labor market, local training options, and program entry requirements to help them make a sound decision.
Self-Advocacy and Wellness
Making Your Money Count: This workshop is designed to cover the basics of money management. It provides strategies and information to set financial goals, manage money, use credit, and make a budget.
Navigating Community Resources: This workshop helps students understand the various basic needs resources available in their local community and how to access them and advocate for themselves.
Wellness: This workshops helps students identify ways to manage stress and stay centered in a busy world.
