Cafe FAQ

What is Training Grounds Café?

Training Grounds Café is a mission‑driven, in‑store coffee cart inside Evergreen Goodwill’s Seattle flagship store. Operated in partnership with Fulcrum Coffee Roasters, the café enhances customer experience, increases store foot traffic, and helps fund Evergreen Goodwill’s workforce development mission—specifically the Barista Training Program.

Where does café revenue go?

Revenue from Training Grounds Café supports:
– Café operating costs
– The delivery and sustainability of the Barista Training Program
– Broader Mission programming (e.g., ESOL, Customer Service, Digital Literacy, Work Readiness)
Every cup purchased directly supports Goodwill’s mission

How does the café support the Barista Training Program?

Training Grounds Café provides a real‑world learning environment where Goodwill students can complete apprenticeships and on‑the‑job training, building skills in drink preparation, customer service, and café operations.

Are the café baristas Goodwill students?

Not yet. During the soft launch, the café is staffed by Fulcrum Coffee professionals. As the program matures, Goodwill barista students will gain apprenticeship and on‑the‑job learning opportunities at the café.

Are we hiring baristas for the café?

Not at this time. The current focus is on strengthening the training program, offering student learning opportunities, and refining the café model.

Temporary Cafe Hours

During the soft‑launch phase, the café is open Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Hours may adjust as we learn more about customer demand.

Will it be open on weekends?

Not initially. Weekend hours may be considered in the future based on learning and alignment with Goodwill business and mission goals.
