Evergreen Goodwill Transforms Operations by Securing a New Georgetown Facility, Setting the Stage for Future Growth and Expanded Community Impact

POSTED July 29, 2025 IN: Press Releases

Seattle, WA. July 28 — Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington has taken occupancy of a new 119,000-square-foot warehouse and 4–acre transportation yard in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. As the future home of Evergreen Goodwill’s Georgetown Operations Center, this site is laying the foundation for a transformative shift in operations for the 100-year-old nonprofit.

Evergreen Goodwill expects the site at 5940 and 5980 1st Ave South in Seattle to be up and running by December 2025. It will enable the organization to reduce environmental impact, support future growth and streamline processes. Every dollar saved in operations is an additional dollar that can be spent providing free job training and education and serving more students in Northwest Washington.

Evergreen Goodwill is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people overcome barriers to employment through free job training, education, and career services. In 2024, Evergreen Goodwill served more than 6,200 students across its five-county region. This move to the Georgetown Operations Center is projected to boost both operational efficiency and financial sustainability, enabling greater investment in Goodwill’s mission. The organization anticipates nearly $4 million in operational savings over the next three years—resources that will allow it to expand the reach of its free adult education and job training programs.

“We are excited to have a new facility for both our employees and our operations. This facility is more than just a new building—it’s a symbol of how Evergreen Goodwill is evolving to meet the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world,” said Libby Johnson McKee, President and CEO at Evergreen Goodwill. “This move positions us for growth. It creates a modern logistics and operations workplace for our employees and will allow us to greatly increase our positive impact in the community.”

A Strategic Move with Big Impact

The new Georgetown facility will allow the organization to:

  • Centralize e-commerce operations, improving the process for pricing, listing and shipping 2.4 million items that Evergreen Goodwill sells online annually across a variety of platforms including eBay, Amazon and ShopGoodwill.com.
  • Relocate its transportation hub from the current Seattle location off Dearborn St., improving logistics for Evergreen Goodwill’s fleet of trucks.
  • Consolidate salvage, waste and aftermarket operations to one site, simplifying processes and reducing waste.
  • Centralize storage from multiple warehouses in Everett and Seattle, streamlining inventory and reducing costs.

“Our ecommerce, transportation and salvage operations are not well known outside our organization but they are critical to the success of our social enterprise, where our profits from the business fuel our mission,” said Johnson McKee. “By modernizing and transforming how we handle these functions, our employees and our whole community will benefit.” Evergreen Goodwill plans to invite partners, supporters and staff to a grand opening celebration once the Georgetown facility is operational.
