For creator, photographer, and storyteller @itstashhaynes, style has always carried a deeper meaning than what meets the eye. Fashion became her language of self-expression—a way to embody resilience, celebrate joy, and honor identity even in the most challenging seasons of life. What began as a necessity in childhood has grown into a lifelong love, one she now shares not only through her creative work, but also with her family. This fall, Tash is channeling her energy into a special collaboration with Evergreen Goodwill: limited-time curated racks of secondhand, family-oriented Halloween costumes.

Date: Sep 2 – Oct 31
Available at All Evergreen Goodwill Store Locations

Growing up in foster care, thrift shopping was how Tash stretched limited resources while still showing up with confidence. “Goodwill has always been one of my go-to spots,” she shares. “It gave me the ability to express myself when I didn’t have much, and now, as an adult, it’s even more meaningful to pass that down to my kids.”

That personal connection goes even deeper. Tash’s mom, who she explains is developmentally delayed, directly benefited from Goodwill’s job training and employment opportunities, and Tash herself once worked as a Program Manager on Tacoma Goodwill’s Workforce Development team. “I’ve seen firsthand the way Goodwill provides opportunity and hope for people who’ve faced systemic barriers,” she says.

“It’s not just about thrifting—it’s about impact.”

When it comes to her own style, Tash describes it as eclectic and expressive. She loves mixing timeless staples with bold colors and patterns, leaning into whatever makes her feel joyful and confident in the moment. “Style is a form of storytelling,” she explains. “I want my outfits to say something about who I am and what I value.” That same energy shows up in her home, where mid-century modern and boho blend seamlessly with bold Black cultural influence, plants, and meaningful statement pieces.

From group costumes with her husband and kids (like the year her daughters dressed as Destiny’s Child) to pop culture-inspired looks, Tash loves the freedom to build something nostalgic and one-of-a-kind. “Halloween is a chance to let your imagination run wild, and no one fuels that creativity like Goodwill,” she says. “You can walk in with just an idea and leave with a full look.”

This year, Tash and her family are bringing their love of creativity and self-expression to life by dressing as The Proud Family—and she’s helping Evergreen Goodwill shoppers do the same. Throughout September and October, her curated racks will be available at all store locations, featuring clothing, accessories, and styling ideas designed to help you and your family build your very own Proud Family costumes.

Just as thrift shopping once empowered Tash to find her own voice and style, this collection invites others to discover theirs. And with every purchase, you’re not only creating a costume that feels uniquely you—you’re also supporting Goodwill’s mission of providing free job training, career services, and education programs that help people across the community take their next step forward.
