From Main Stage to Local Change: Thrift Festival Looks that Give Back
POSTED July 7, 2025 IN: Community

Festival season is almost here! From the trend-setting vibes of major events like Coachella to our amazing local Seattle scene with the Capitol Hill Block Party and Bumbershoot, it’s time to start dreaming up those show-stopping outfits.
But let’s be real, festival fashion can get pricey, and fast fashion? Not the vibe for those of us who care about the planet. That’s where your local Evergreen Goodwill comes in! Thrifting your festival gear isn’t just budget-friendly; it’s a super sustainable way to express your unique style and take center stage in pieces no one else will have. Plus, when you shop at Evergreen Goodwill, you’re helping out your own community because your haul helps fund free job training and education programs! It’s a total win-win.
Nail Those Festival Trends – The Thrifty Way!
Kicking off the season, Coachella usually sets some major trends. Think Boho Chic with a modern twist – refined ruffles, artisanal fringe, sheer fabrics, and micro shorts. Want to add some sparkle? Go for sequins and rhinestones, often spotted on celebs. Color-wise, you’ve got plenty of options: earthy tones and soft pastels like butter yellow are trending, and so are punchy brights. Don’t forget asymmetrical cuts and the cool clash of tailored pieces with casual staples.
You’re more into a Gen Z flair? Streetwear influences go strong with oversized tees and baggy pants, alongside a love for all things retro: ’90s grunge, ’70s chic, you name it! We’re also seeing fun micro-trends like “dark ethereal” (think lace and moody velvets), “urban wrangler” (bandanas and worn-in boots), “main pop girl” glam, whimsical “twee” aesthetics, and even “pastel goth.”
Sounds confusing? Don’t stress! The beauty of thrifting at Evergreen Goodwill is that you can experiment with all these trends without breaking the bank.
Here are some key pieces to hunt for:
1. Flowy Dresses & Skirts: Shop a variety of prints, patterns, and textures to build those effortless, boho style looks!

2. Sheer Tops & Cover-ups: Layering is key! Grab your favorite bralette, tank, or unique accessory to throw together with this lightweight piece.

3. Fringe: Lean into the western vibe. Find a vest, jacket, or bag with fringe to add some movement to your look!

4. Denims: There’s no such thing as too much. Find some vintage denim to wear for tops, jackets, pants, and jorts!

5. Statement Jackets: An easy way to instantly elevate your outfit. Find a one-of-a-kind jacket at your local Goodwill!

6. Bold & Bright Tops: It’s summer! Get creative and combine different colors for a vibrant look.

7. Unique Accessories: Stand out in the crowd with 1 of 1 accessories. Bangles, rings, purses, belts, silk scarves, and more!

8. Comfortable Footwear: All that dancing requires proper footwear. Sneakers, sandals, and boots will be your best friend this festival season.

9. Backpacks & Bags: Whether for functionality or style, you can get your perfect bag at Goodwill. Find a suitable clear fanny pack, or a unique second-hand tote!
