An era marked by the Great Depression also represented an important opportunity for Evergreen Goodwill to provide support for those in need at its newly-developed headquarters facility.

Evergreen Goodwill is celebrating 100 years of existence throughout 2023! Over the next 10 months, we’ll highlight a different decade of our organization’s history and the evolution of Evergreen Goodwill’s Mission and community impact, starting where it all began – at the corner of Seattle’s Boren Avenue & Virginia Street in 1923.

Community Hiring Fair Flier Feature

On Jan. 26, Evergreen Goodwill is partnering with local employers like Starbucks, Delta Air Lines and T-Mobile to connect job seekers with opportunities and employment support during a Community Hiring & Resource Fair. Translation services, resume and interview support will also be provided by Evergreen Goodwill.

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is excited to announce the grand opening of its second, state-of-the-art Lift Zone – in partnership with Comcast. This space will provide free WiFi access to individuals and families across Whatcom County who are looking for online resources, learning digital skills, and accessing vital technology at our Whatcom County Job Training and Education Center.

Our Whatcom County Job Training & Education Center in Bellingham proudly hosted a job and resource fair with a keen focus on connecting immigrant and refugee populations to jobs and resources available in the community.

“Evergreen Goodwill’s mission is to break down significant barriers to education and employment people in the community face. The organization fulfills this mission in a variety of ways, including offering basic instruction on how to use computers and smartphones, cloud computing and applications like Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Docs and Sheets.”

“On Monday, July 19, leaders from Evergreen Goodwill and Comcast, as well as community members and students gathered to celebrate the opening of an enhanced Lift Zone and Community Space, where anyone can access reliable internet and computers. The space is located at Evergreen Goodwill’s King County Job Training and Education Center, at 700 Dearborn Place South in Seattle.”

“With Evergreen Goodwill approaching its 100th anniversary in 2023, Campbell says, “Make no mistake, we are a nonprofit. After we consider the cost of running our extensive retail operation, we are still able to put over $11 million of that directly toward our mission to provide free job training and education, but also to continue to invest in increasing wages for our own 2,100 employees.'”

This new “Lift Zone lab” will help families across King County receive online
resources, skills and access to vital technology needed for education and employment.
